Pottery I is a 9-week intro to pottery - it’s a fun, basic, sample-everything clay class in which students create stoneware pottery using the potter’s wheel, slab roller, extruders, templates, molds, and their bare hands!

• to explore surface decoration on raw clay forms through carving, appliqué, sprigging, & stamping.
• to apply color to bisqued clay with oxides, stains and glazes.
• to glaze pottery by dipping, pouring and painting.
• to participate in an ourdoor RAKU firing
• to discuss, analyze, and evaluate pottery through group critique, using an understanding of craftsmanship and the elements and principles of art.
